A concrete mixer crashed on a busy Sussex road in Heathfield on Friday (April 13) causing delays in the area. Pictures from the scene show the vehicle lying at the side of the road.

The concrete mixer left the road and travelled through the hedgerow next to the scene. The mixer was found on it's side in a field next to where the crash occurred.

Images show that several emergency service vehicles attended the scene, including fire and rescue services, police and ambulance. The road has since been reopened and the scene cleared.

Reports suggested that the westbound carriageway of the A265 east of Heathfield was blocked and highway maintenance workers also attended the scene.

Traffic monitoring service, Inrix stated at the time of the incident: "A265 Westbound blocked, queueing traffic due to accident around Swife Lane. Sensors show traffic can pass on the eastbound side heading towards Burwash however westbound remains blocked at the moment."
