Portions of Interstate 27 in Lubbock were closed Tuesday morning after a concrete mixer truck overturned, spilling its contents on the roadway.

Lubbock Police Department sent an LBKAlert about 7 a.m. Tuesday warning drivers southbound I-27 was closed from Marsha Sharp Freeway to 19th Street and urging them to find an alternate route.

LPD provided an update in a tweet about 8:20 a.m., stating they expect the roadway to be closed for an additional 2 hours. The road was reopened just before 10:30 a.m.

Police confirmed one person suffered moderate injuries in the accident.
