DANBURY — A man was injured when the back wheel of a cement mixer fell through a parking deck on Crosby Street late Monday morning, a city official said.

The cement mixer was likely patching the deck, which is used by several businesses when one of the back wheels fell through the concrete around 11:45 a.m, said Erin Henry, the city's public safety spokesperson. The driver, who was outside the vehicle when the incident occurred, was the only person who was injured, she said.

Two other men who were also outside the cement mixer were not injured, she said.

The driver was taken to the hospital, but his condition was not immediately known, Henry said.

Police and firefighters were at the scene working to get the cement mixer upright, Henry said. Crews called for a crane that worked to lift out the truck, maneuver it upright and bring it to the street level. Work was complete around 7:45 p.m.

Traffic on Crosby Street was moving in the mid-afternoon, but some areas were down to one lane to accommodate emergency vehicles, Henry said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was on the scene, Henry said. The fire department arrived around 5:30 p.m.
